Dr. Hefzi Abdulwahab Alratrout

Dr. Hefzi Abdulwahab Alratrout is a Saudi consultant general surgeon with subspecialty expertise in bariatric and metabolic surgery, colorectal surgery, and advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He serves as Assistant Professor, Consultant, and Head of the Bariatric, Laparoscopic and Upper GI Surgery unit at King Fahad University Hospital and Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in Dammam, where he also chairs the Robotic General Surgery Committee. After earning his MBBS from the University of Dammam, Dr. Alratrout completed the French Board in General Surgery and a French general surgery residency at the University of Strasbourg. He went on to complete a clinical fellowship in bariatric and metabolic surgery in Strasbourg, a clinical fellowship in colorectal surgery at the University of Montreal in Canada, and advanced robotic surgery training in Montreal, along with university master's diplomas in laparoscopic surgery and in the care of severe obesity. He is an active member of several international surgical societies, including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO), and the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), and heads the scientific committee of the Eastern Province branch of the Saudi Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in bariatric, colorectal, and general surgery.
